CARBONDALE, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Another problem you can chalk up to the extra wet weather: the collapsed façade of a Lackawanna County house.
It happened Friday afternoon in Carbondale along Cottage Street. Police tape now surrounds the home which a neighbor says fell into disrepair in recent years.
He feared it was only a matter of time that something like this would happen.
“The roof I believe fell in disrepair and from leaking for so long from all the rain we’ve had. The front of the building started to show bulges and the windows started to pop out and then of course the doors started the leaning out like it was about to fall out and then after the rain today eventually let loose,” Richie Cox of Carbondale said.
A woman who lives in the home was able to get out safely.
