WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Multiple police responded to what they call a false alarm report of a man threatening to kill his wife in Wilkes-Barre Tuesday afternoon.

At 4:00 p.m., multiple police crews were at the scene on Hanover and Barney Streets for a report of shots fired.

According to the affidavit, a man called 911 stating he was going to “blow his wife’s brain out and hang her from the ceiling,” then called again saying “I just shot the (expletive).”

Once arriving on the scene, investigators say a woman walked out of the home, later identified as the victim, who told police she was ok but her husband, Terrence Winstead, 73, of Wilkes-Barre, was drunk.

As stated in court papers, Winstead exited the house shortly after and was placed into custody.

Police say there were no signs of a struggle inside the home and the victim did not want to press any charges against Winstead.

Winstead has been charged with false alarm to agencies and disorderly conduct.
