Fire breaks out in Pottsville

POTTSVILLE, SCHUYLKILL COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)UPDATE: Several people are injured and nine people are displaced after a two-alarm fire in Schuylkill County.

Flames broke out around 9:30 p.m. at 625 Pierce Street in Pottsville. Fire officials say police showed up first to help the people inside.

“A mother and her two children went to the hospital for smoke inhalation. One of my firefighters fell and hurt his ankle. To me, that’s all I know of right now,” Chief Jim Misstishin said.

The Red Cross is currently assisting those affected by the fire. The cause is under investigation.

Two adults and one firefighter were injured during a fire in Pottsville. The firefighter suffered a twisted ankle while inside. The adults suffered smoke inhalation.

A fire broke out in the 600 block of Pierce Street in Pottsville Tuesday night.

It was an apartment fire that occurred at 625 Pierce Street. Three units were impacted. One was unoccupied.

In all, three adults and four children are receiving aid from the Red Cross Tri County Chapter.
