Hazleton Grad Dante Biasi Selected by Royals in 6th Round of MLB Draft

Dante Biasi has been selected in the MLB Draft…again. The Hazleton Area High School grad and current Penn State pitcher was taken by the Kansas City Royals in the 6th round on Tuesday. Biasi was previously drafted straight out of high school by the Chicago Coubs in the 22nd round in 2016, but elected to play collegiately at Penn State.

Biasi is a left-handed pitcher who was one of the Nittany Lions’ key contributors — he posted a 2.55 ERA and earned three wins in the 2019 season. At Hazleton, Biasi missed most of his senior season due to injury but was a first-team All-Wyoming Valley Conference selection in his sophomore and junior seasons.
