POTTSVILLE, SCHUYLKILL COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A major donation is making a big impact in the heart of Schuylkill County. On Friday morning, Pottsville received the largest-ever donation in the 211 year history of the city.
D..G. Yuengling and Son president and CEO, Dick Yuengling pledged to donate up to 2.8 million dollars to the city to help with the demolition and construction costs of the Mahantongo parking deck. Mayor Jim Muldowney says it’s huge for the revitalization of pottville.
“Just incredible for the revitalization of Pottsville and for the revitalization of our downtown. With everything that the Yuengling family has going on in their manufacturing process up there and their tourism is terrific so it all works hand in and and I see pottsville on a climb,” said Mayor Jim Muldowney.
He says the new deck will help businesses grow, and bring in tourists to Pottsville.
