Youth Appreciation Day Luncheon

(WBRE/WYOU-TV) Eight high school seniors were honored in the Poconos Tuesday for overcoming obstacles and adversity and getting an education. The Pocono Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual Youth Appreciation Day at Peppe’s Bistro in East Stroudsburg. One student from each Monroe County school was honored.

Tieuan Coleman from Pocono Mountain East was one of those honored, overcoming homelessness throughout high school. Tieuan will continue his academic career in college next year… while inspiring his mom to continue her own education.

“I’m really honored to represent Pocono mountain east and to show how people can overcome things in life and the challenges in life that you can overcome no matter what,” Said Tieuan Coleman.

“We have had students in the past who had had cancer, some who have lost parents who have faced homelessness and we really just want to honor those students and say that we still believe in you and the business community believes in you and we’re here to support you,”  Noted Valerie Case, VP of Operations Pocono Chamber of Commerce

Each student was given a certificate as well as a goodie bag filled with gift cards from some of the sponsors.
