SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) – The deputy coroner of Lackawanna County confirms a woman’s body was pulled from the water of Roaring Brook in Scranton Friday afternoon.
Officials are still working to make a positive identification and the name of the woman has not yet been released.
Investigators are working to determine if the body is that of a woman who went missing near the Nay Aug Park Gorge around 9:00 PM Thursday night.
Firefighters spent several hours searching for the woman Thursday evening and returned Friday morning before suspending their search because the water conditions were too fast and there was too much debris in the water.
Crews returned to the area of Ridge Row, near the University of Scranton tennis courts, around 4:30 PM Friday afternoon.
The Lackawanna County Coroner’s office arrived around 5:00 PM to recover the woman’s body and left the scene at 6:00 PM.
