Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne County – The Amber Alert for a missing girl from Wilkes-Barre is canceled.
Police found 16-year-old Jenea Patterson in the parking garage of Wilkes-Barre General Hospital overnight. She did not appear to be physically hurt.
Her alleged kidnapper, Walter Lewis, was also there. He reportedly ran from police but they captured him.
Wilkes-Barre Police Sergeant Joe Ziegler said someone gave investigators a tip that they were in the area and he believes Lewis took the girl into the parking garage to hide.
Lewis was Patterson’s ex-boyfriend. Police said he dragged her from a car Thursday night. It happened near her home on East View Drive in the Parsons section of Wilkes-Barre. The victim’s mother, Cyndi Angeles cried, “They came, they drug her out of the car hitting her. She was calling ‘Mommy, mommy, they’re taking me. They’re taking me.’ I said, ‘Don’t worry Jenea. I’m going to get you.’ He shot his gun into the air and said, ‘Get the F in the house.'”
Lewis is in jail awaiting a video arraignment scheduled for 8 a.m. Saturday.
