(WBRE/WYOU-TV) The humid and rainy summer continues to create some issues for area schools.
The West Penn Elementary in the Tamaqua Area School District is experiencing a moisture issue inside the building.
In a press release from Mike Hromyak, of the Tamaqua Area School District the nature of this situation requires the district to remove the excess moisture through specific cleaning recommended by professionals after air quality tests were performed.
According to District Officials, keeping the health, safety, and well-being of all students and staff in mind, our administration planned a response to this situation.
The District has released a plan that still provides TASD students the best education possible. The following scenario will occur to allow professionals to clean Tamaqua Area’s West Penn elementary building:
1) Monday, August 27, 2018 will be an Act 80 Day for all Elementary students only. HS and MS will operate under normal conditions
2) West Penn Faculty and Staff should report to Tamaqua Elementary on Monday August 27, 2018
3) Tuesday, August 28, 2018
A) West Penn students in grades K-4 will report to Tamaqua Elementary
B) West Penn Autistic Support Classrooms and ESL will report to Tamaqua Elementary
C) West Penn Grade 5 will report to Tamaqua Area Middle School
D) West Penn Life Skills Class will report to Tamaqua Area Middle School
4) On all days this schedule is used we ask
A) All parent drop offs must occur on North Nescopeck at Tamaqua Elementary
B) Bus and Van drop offs will occur at the main entrance at Tamaqua Elementary
C) West Penn Walkers can call our transportation office to set up bussing if transportation cannot be provided by a parent or guardian Our School Board and Administration believe that this is the best way to proceed in order to maintain the very best standards for a safe and healthy learning environment for our students.
