Wednesday’s Deadly Crash Brought Back Memories of 1990

News
Coolbaugh Township, Monroe County- Cheryl Rarick has lived in the Stillwater Lakes Development of Monroe County for decades.
She wasn’t home when Wednesday morning’s deadly bus crash took place right near her home   but she has seen plenty of crashes over the years.
Her street runs parallel to interstate 380-north.

Rarick says another wreck that she will never forget   took place in the same area  March 20, 1990   and involved the tour bus of singer Gloria Estefan.

“Gloria Estefan’s crash was a little bit up the road towards the Tobyhanna exit about a mile or so up from here.”

In 1990 — Estefan was asleep on her tour bus headed towards a concert in syracuse one night.
Reports indicate the tour bus had stopped in traffic   when a truck hit it from behind.
Estefan was thrown from her bunk   and broke her vertebrae.

“A friend of mine was a state trooper at that time and he was involved with getting Gloria out of there.” said Rarick

Fast forward 25 years  and now people living along Interstate 380-north wait to find out exactly why Wednesday’s deadly bus crash took place.     Many say crashes are becoming all too frequent in this area.

“A couple of years ago, there was a truck that rolled right over from here and rolled right onto the fence right here.” Said Easton Gracie who lived

State police say they are still trying to reconstruct exactly what happened in wednesday’s crash.
There’s no word on exactly how long that will take.
