Volunteers fold pocket flags for deployed troops

News

FOREST CITY, SUSQUEHANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Some local scouts, veterans, and other volunteers took part in a patriotic project Monday night.

They folded 300 pocket flags for deployed troops.  More than 75 people formed an assembly line inside the Forest City Area Emergency Services building.

Each tiny triangle is neatly packaged with a thank you card.  Eight-year-old Aurora Race told Eyewitness News she wants to share “a little piece of home” with our servicemen and women.

“I’m hoping they’re glad to have something from their own country to remember their families by,” said Race.

The flags will be shipped to an undisclosed location overseas, and the volunteers will include their contact information in case the service members would like to reach out to them.
