SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Family and friends are saying goodbye to Parker Palermo.
The 20-year-old died after a shooting in Scranton over the weekend.
More than 100 people came out to this vigil at Nay Aug Park on Wednesday night.
Police said Palermo was shot early Sunday morning outside The Castle, which is an after-hours club on North Main Avenue.
He died hours later at Geisinger Community Medical Center.
Palermo’s cousin Lauren Chelland said he was getting ready to be a dad. The baby girl’s name will be Catalina Parker, after her father.
“We talked a lot about life and everything he wanted to achieve,” said Chelland. “It’s just hard knowing that he can’t do that now.”
Police said two other people were also hit by gunfire. One is in stable condition and the other remains critical.
No charges have been filed yet. The shooter has not been named, but police identified him as someone who provides security services to bars.
