Veterinarian saves cat struck by baseball bat

News

PITTSTON, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A veterinarian says someone struck a cat with a baseball bat or similar object, causing the animal to nearly lose its leg and its life.

But thanks to a good deed, Star the cat is shining brighter than ever before.

Susan Valvano says she was given a $3,500 estimate to save Star’s leg.

After trying to raise money at a bake sale, Dr. Inayat Kathio at Pittston Animal Hospital offered to shave $1,000 off the price and build a payment plan around the family’s budget.

Dr. Kathio gives animals second chances, because he appreciates the opportunity he received to pursue the American Dream.

The veterinarian told Eyewitness News that Star should be back to normal soon, and the cat might be able to go home Wednesday afternoon.
