Vehicle found in the Susquehanna River in Williamsport

WILLIAMSPORT, LYCOMING COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) – Williamsport Police are investigating how a vehicle ended up in the west branch of the Susquehanna River.

Police say a delivery driver saw the white SUV floating in the water around noon on Monday. The SUV was heading downstream near the Susquehanna State Park before getting hung up along the north side.

Dive teams arrived on the scene around 1:00p.m. on Monday. No one was found inside the vehicle or in the immediate area.

Emergency crews shut down the Arch Street bridge for several hours on Monday while they searched the area. Eyewitness News has not heard who owns the car or how it ended up in the river in Lycoming County.
