Updates on the Marise Chiverella cold case investigation

WEST HAZLETON, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The murder 9-year-old Marise Chiverella stunned this Luzerne County community 55-years ago, and after all these years it’s still something people talk about. Today investigators are releasing DNA Snapshots of the possible facial features of a suspect.

Marise Chiverella was kidnapped as she walked to school early on the morning of March 18th, 1964. Her body was found dumped near a coal stripping later that day. She had been sexually assaulted and strangled.

State Police are using DNA technology to analyze evidence from the crime scene to compose three snapshots of what the suspect might have looked like at age 25, 40 and 60.

If anyone recognizes the person depicted in these snapshots or has any information about the Chiverella Murder, please contact the State Police in Hazleton.
