SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/YOU) – Hundreds of people who might be alone on Christmas came together to share the holiday at a special breakfast at the University of Scranton.

“Well, we try and provide a place for people to come on Christmas morning so that way they can get a greater sense of community and realize that there are a lot of people here looking out for them and trying to do the best for themselves, but by extension, giving a little bit back, ” Michael Landram with the Department of Exercise Science said.

“I really feel that no one should be alone on Christmas and that’s the theme of this whole thing, ya know. It’s rewarding, but it’s also great to share it with other people in the community,” Pat Vaccaro. director of the Center for Service and Social Justice, told Eyewitness News.

The people who attended the breakfast are thankful for all the university has done for them.

“We’re very blessed to be together on the holidays. and we thank very much Mr. Denaples for all the love and kindness he gives to the people. He gives presents to the community, it means the world to everybody. Some people here don’t have families and that, so we’re very blessed,” Angel Badwak said.
