University of Scranton athletics campus dedicated

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)--After 30 years of planning and about a year of construction, all of the work at the University of Scranton's new athletics campus wrapped up.

University trustees and students came together this morning for an official dedication ceremony. The 14 million dollar facility along Broadway street in West Scranton has a new baseball field, softball field and multi-purpose field for soccer, lacrosse and field hockey.

The athletics campus is named in honor of the University's 25th President, Father Kevin Quinn.

"It was an effort of my people, a lot of folks contributed to this. It's great for the university and great for the city of Scranton," Rev. Kevin P. Quinn, S.J., 25th President of University of Scranton said.

The new complex also has a community playground which is now open to the public to use.
