Two dead after I-81 crash

PLAINS TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) – Two people are dead after a crash on Interstate 81 in Plains Township, Luzerne County. 

Investigators discovered the crash site around 6 a.m. Tuesday in the southbound lanes. 

Earlier overnight, officials believe the car crashed through a guard rail and went several hundred feet into the woods.  The car hit a tree and overnturned, landing on its roof. 

The coronor on scene confirms the death of two people in the accident. State police say the victims are 29-year-old Rachel McCuen of Kingston and 40-year-old Ryan Bieble from Hanover Township.

McCuen is the daughter of convicted double murderer Hugo Selenski who made national headline when he escaped from the Luzerne County Prison in 2003.
