EDWARDSVILLE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The Royal Turks and Caicos Islands are about 1300 miles away from Northeastern Pennsylvania. But officials from the Caribbean Islands were in Luzerne County, touring 911 centers and first responder facilities.

Eyewitness News caught up with them at the Edwardsville Borough Building where they were meeting with police, fire, and medical teams to inspect their vehicles and equipment.

They say they will take this information back to the islands to improve their emergency response system.

“To come and get more ideas for our new center and then also look at our upgrades we are doing to our network at this time,” said Phil branch, the Head of Support Services for the Turks & Caicos Police Force.

The island officials are working with managers from AMP Global Strategies based in Luzerne County to upgrade their 911 center.
