TUNKHANNOCK, WYOMING COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) – It’s one thing to see your granddaughter on the big screen. But when your granddaughter and her teammates win their first game at the girls little leage softball world series in Portland, Oregon, that’s also something to be proud of!

The Lady Tigers of Tunkhannock beat Canada 2 to zero. Suspense was high as the girls got deeper into the game. But anyone here will tell you they knew the team had what it takes to take the win!

“They had a strong defense, and when they got people on base, they know how to play small ball,” said Terry Kerr, a grandparent.

The Tigers have the community rallying behind them. Every where you look downtown, you see hints of tiger pride. But the girls are not out of the woods just yet. They’ll continue fighting through pool play for a shot at the World Series championship title.
