TUNKHANNOCK, WYOMING COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU-TV) — A lot of small towns in Pennsylvania give you that Christmas feel. And with the 2020 Christmas season just weeks away, one local hotel director is helping out by singing.

In a recent post on a travel website, they list 10 Pennsylvania small towns that make you feel like you’re in a Christmas movie — with Tunkhannock listed at the top.

A local hotel manager, who wrote an original Christmas song for The Endless Mountains Christmas Campaign, is mentioned in the article, so Eyewitness News met up with Gary Kaschak.

Kaschak, who goes by Gary Carl, executive director at Comfort Inn & Suites in Tunkhannock and Sayre, has a full-time job with the hotels but also is an award-winning singer/songwriter on the side.

“Jean and Morgan from The Endless Mountain Visitors Bureau approached me with an idea that was only about two hours old about doing something. They asked me, ‘we need a song for it’, and I said well I can help you out with that,” Kaschak said.

His song is the instrumental version of “An Endless Mountains Christmas”.

“Within two hours of the conversation, I had the song and the lyrics written. By 6:00 that evening, I had a demo sent over to them, asking if this is what they were looking for,” Kaschak said.

Kaschak, who is an award-winning Country Americana singer, says this is the second time he has written a Christmas song. And after researching the Endless Mountains area, it gave him inspiration to write those holiday lyrics.

“I went from there, knowing that the landscape was what the area is all about and just went from there with it,” Kaschak said.

Jean Ruhf, Executive Director of Endless Mountains Visitor Bureau, says the Christmas campaign is to list and find activities and events throughout the area. And she says Kaschak’s song was the perfect choice.

“We’re going to do a couple of campaigns and videos, things up on Facebook, that we’ll be using the song, which is absolutely wonderful,” Ruhf said.
