SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) – A truck barreled down a normally quiet street Friday morning just as some kids were still walking to West Scranton High School.

At least three cars over a four block area of Luzerne Street in West Scranton were damaged on Friday around 8:30a.m. Police believe they were all hit by a tractor trailer.

Evelyn Leyva’s vehicle is one of the vehicles that was hit.

“It’s a little scary because we’re usually out here with our toddler son. It’s just so concerning that anyone would make such a mistake,” Leyva said.

Eyewitnesses say after hitting all the vehicles, the tractor trailer driver didn’t stop at first. People tell Eyewitness News that he only stopped after another driver blocked his truck from moving.

“I heard the commotion. He hit something across the street because that’s what I heard. That’s what brought me to the window,” Peggy Greene said.

Scranton Police, along with help from Taylor Police, are now investigating why the tractor trailer hit all the vehicles. People are just glad no one was hurt.

“I didn’t hear nothing. I came out and look and I see the front end of the kid’s car laying on the sidewalk,” Pat Beneditct said.

Scranton Police have not yet said if the tractor trailer driver will face any charges or citations.
