Thief steals rocking chair from disabled veteran

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) -- It's a story that's probably going to make your blood boil, especially if one of your loved ones is a veteran.

Someone stole a brand new rocking chair from the front porch of a disabled Navy veteran's home.

76-year-old Frank Makaravage, Sr. served during the Vietnam era, and he contributed close to two decades of his life to the military.

He celebrated his birthday on Independence Day, and his family bought him the oak-colored rocking chair with a Navy emblem on it.

But his son said a thief swiped the chair from his Wilkes-Barre home sometime early Monday morning.

The veteran's son told Eyewitness News he just wants the person responsible to return the rocking chair -- no questions asked.

Anyone with information about the theft should call Wilkes-Barre Police.
