WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) Dozens of foster teens celebrated an evening of togetherness at a prom-style event on Friday evening.
It’s called the Branderella ball.
The formal celebration was for foster children in the Wyoming Valley.
It provided a stress free night of music and laughter at Wilkes University.
Helping make the evening special was Brandon’s Forever Home, and Beauty by Ashley… and Flourish Wilkes-Barre The groups and businesses donated makeup and hair services, jewelry, and gowns to the teens.
The gala is an experience many of the teens otherwise might not experince.
Dr. Sara Moore is the founder of Flourish Wilkes-Barre she told Eyewitness News “Being a foster kid is really difficult in itself””often time these kids go from home to home as a foster child and don’t get to do special things because of budgetary concerns.”
This is the first event of its type – and the organizers hope to do it again.
