Thanksgiving at the Ballpark

(WBRE/WYOU-TV) The Scranton Wilkes-Barre Railriders are celebrating Thanksgiving a little early.

The ball club’s charitable arm– the Scranton Wilkes-Barre Pinstripes Foundation hosted a free Thanksgiving lunch. More than 200 special education and life skills students from Lackawanna and Luzerne Counties came to PNC Field to enjoy a feast of turkey and all the trimmings.

They also took part in a turkey arts and crafts activity. It’s the first time the organization hosted this holiday-themed event.

Jordan Maydole, Director of Community Relations, SWB Railriders/SWB Pinstripes Foundation explained: “Well, it’s really awesome to get to celebrate these kids and get to give them an environment where they can have a huge holiday party.”

“For them to have this now during this time of the year? So thankful. It’s just such a wonderful thing for them to do.” Said Kim Rugletic, Special Education Teacher, Pittston Area Middle School

The Railriders Mascot “Champ” busted out a few dance moves for the student guests. Another free lunch with a Christmas theme is planned next month at PNC Field.
