SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) A Scranton man is facing charges Thursday after police say he assaulted a 71-year-old man.

18-year-old Ramone Sanabria turned himself in to authorities Thursday morning after surveillance video was released capturing the crime.

In the video it shows the moment Sanabria got out of a Dodge Avenger and allegedly tackled Robert Jones outside his home.

It happened on Penn Avenue at around 12:30pm Wednesday afternoon. The victim tells me he asked the driver of the car to pull ahead so he could park in his handicap parking spot outside his house.

That’s when Jones says Sanabria mouthed off to him by sticking his head out the window. The driver tried to leave but that’s when the suspect got out of his vehicle and assaulted Jones, knocking his unconscious for more than ten minutes.

Jones went to the hospital 24 hours after the incident according to his granddaughter. Eyewitness News is told that he is doing well.

Sanabria was arraigned Thursday on harassment and assault charges. Sanabria did not post $15,000 straight bail. He’s locked up in Lackawanna County Prison.
