Teen Starts Non-Profit

Scranton, Lackawanna County (WBRE/WYOU) – Making her mark on the world.  A 14-year-old young lady from Lackawanna County is helping others by starting her own non-profit.

Angel Kropiewnicki is only 14-years-old, but with the help of her father, Eric, the Scranton teen created the non-profit organization ‘ARK Helps,’ appropriately titled after her initials.  The mission is to offer a helping hand to individuals and businesses that have experienced an unfortunate occurrence.

Kropiewnicki kicked of the launch of her non-profit with her first successful fundraiser over the weekend.  ‘ARK-Fest Benefit for Beth’ drew a crowd of more than 300 people in Carbondale and raised more than $5,800 for a woman battling ovarian cancer.  “I’ve always wanted to help people, so when we started the non-profit we had a friend named Beth and she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, so that’s where we got ARK-Fest from and after that the non-profit just grew from there,” explains Kropiewnicki.

For her next project, Kropiewnicki is planning a fireman’s calendar featuring volunteer firefighters from all over the area.  The proceeds from that calendar will go back to the participating volunteer departments.
