Stock Market Nosedive: How It Impacts You

Markets saw volatile losses to start the week, so what does that mean for you personally?

On wall street Monday, the Dow took a nose dive after a 1,000-point decline at the start of the day, closing with a loss of nearly 600 points.  That’s the lowest it’s been since 2011, but David Capin, of Raymond James Financial Services and Capin Investment Advisors in Kingston, says he saw this coming.

He explains that people retiring soon may feel an impact more so than the people with long term investments, saying “is it going to end?  Not today.  Is it going to end 6 months from now?  I don’t know that answer.  I do know if you have a long term view and own quality securities, you’re patient, you don’t get shaken out by headlines, you’ll be fine.”

Capin says another good sign amongst Monday’s major losses, was the fact that the day started almost 1,000 points in the red, but made a huge upswing throughout the day.
