KINGSTON, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Authorities have closed down a residential street in Kingston after a sinkhole opened up.
It happened on South Gates Avenue near North Hampton Street around 6 PM.
Officials on scene say the hole looks small from above, but it is actually over eight feet wide below the top layer of asphalt.
Road crews will have to peel the asphalt back before repaving the street.
Crews were on scene investigating what caused the hole to open up.
Officials say they expect the road to be closed overnight.
