STROUD TOWNSHIP, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) – More than 100 people are in day two of their search for a missing man who may be hurt or in danger. On Thursday afternoon, a hiker spotted signs of him in Monroe County.
Nobody has heard from Kevin Woolf of Northampton County since Tuesday morning, when he told a friend he may be lost in a heavily wooded area. Crews say the 32-year-old was riding a dirt bike along power line trails between Stroud Township and a home in Jackson Township. A hiker found the man’s Suzuki near the Appalachian Trail, but there’s no sign of Woolf.
“We had another dog team find a campfire with a pack of cigarettes that are the same brand he carries. Those are separated by a few miles, so the bike may have failed or had an issue and he went looking for help,” Bruce Barton of Northeast Search and Rescue explains.
Woolf is known to ride off-road trails in the area. Anyone with information should call 911.
The American Red Cross was called in this afternoon to assist the fire departments and search teams. Volunteers expect to put thousands of hours into the search.
