STROUDSBURG, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) – Shocking allegations have been made against the Monroe County Coroner’s Office. A former employee, who claims she was fired for being a whistleblower, has filed a federal lawsuit against the Coroner, his Deputy Coroner wife, and the County.
Allegations of stealing from the dead, altering payroll, and skipping work for sex are all laid out in the 12 page lawsuit.
Former Deputy Coroner Lauren Fizz says she was fired last month based off a false claim she had a sexual encounter with a police officer at a death scene. Fizz claims it’s a lie, and believes she was really terminated for reporting misconduct against another Deputy Coroner, Kathleen Traci Allen. She is the Coroner’s wife.
Fizz says Traci has assumed all duties of the Coroner, including disciplining and firing employees. She adds, those decisions are supposed to be made only by Coroner Bob Allen.
Fizz alleges Traci stole personal items and prescription medication from the deceased.
The lawsuit also claims Traci has “…created a sexually hostile work environment by leaving work early for a liaison in the woods and displaying male genitalia on her cell phone”, which Traci allegedly claimed belonged to one of her lovers.
The document also alleges Traci altered payroll and overtime records.
In the suit, Fizz goes on to say Traci is not qualified for her position but “…holds this title solely because she is married to Coroner Robert Allen.”
Fizz says she informed the County’s Human Resources Office of these allegations before filing a lawsuit. Eyewitness News was told County Commissioners were also aware of the allegations.
Eyewitness News contacted Bob and Traci Allen for comment. They say these are false accusations and stand behind their decision to fire Lauren Fizz.
Monroe County Commissioner John Christy says this is a personnel issue he cannot comment on. We also reached out to District Attorney David Christine who did not return our request for comment.
