HARRISBURG, DAUPHIN COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)    Governor Tom Wolf signed  a  law which will finally provide  people with insurance in the event they lose their job or cannot find work.

More than 40,000 seasonal or cyclical workers are once again eligible for unemployment compensation after Governor. Tom Wolf signed a new law today.
Senate Labor and Industry Committee Chair Sen. Lisa Baker (R-20th) participated in the bill signing ceremony and offered remarks praising the bipartisan effort that restores benefits while ensuring the long-term solvency of the unemployment compensation system.

The previous rule mandated that 49.5 percent of wages must be earned outside the highest quarter of earning for an individual to receive unemployment insurance.

This percentage was prohibitively high and left many individuals and families of seasonal workers without this important financial bridge to cover
leaner work months.
