Scranton Police continue deadly shooting investigation

News

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) Investigators and Lackawanna County District Attorney’s office are trying to determine if the shooting was justified.

There is nobody in custody. Earlier Lackawanna County District Attorney’s Office came to the police station to get an update on the investigation.

They’re staying close to this investigation to see if any charges will be filed against the shooter or shooters.

It was a body Mother’s Day for Scranton Police on Sunday. They are continuing to put all the pieces together.

Police say an off duty security guard shot three men on North Main Avenue at around five o’clock in the morning.

21-year-old Parker Palermo died at the hospital while two two others recover from their injuries. Investigators won’t say how many gun shots range out, but are looking at surveillance video to determine how many shooters may have been involved.

“Again, that is something we are looking at right now. There are indications that there was probably more than one shooter,” said Chief Carl Graziano.

Chief Graziano tells Eyewitness News, that one known shooter does not live in the state but had the legal right to carry a firearm.

But could the shooting have been justified? That’s what Lackawanna County District Attorney’s office is trying to figure out.

They met with Chief Graziano Monday afternoon to go over the investigation.

“District attorney office does not want to make a final determination until all of the information that we can possible get is in,” said Chief Graziano.

Graziano says there is no indication of a motive on either side. “All the information that we have right now that there is no a shooter on the loose that everyone is accepted for,” said Chief Graziano.

If you have any information regarding the shooting — you are asked to contact Scranton Police or dial 911.
