SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) Robert Morris Elementary School will be closed on Monday, September 26th for cleaning.
Over the summer, the Green Ridge section of Scranton was hit by flooding and the elementary school was impacted, the Scranton School District said.
After the cleanup in August the district performed air quality testing as a preventative measure. According to the district, the most recent test showed elevated microparticles in the air.
“A professional service company will be on site throughout the weekend to cleanse the entire building,” Superintendent Alexis Kirijan said.
Air quality testing will be performed on Monday once the building has been sterilized. The district will then determine if students and staff can return on Tuesday.
“These precautionary measures are meant to ensure the health, safety and welfare of our students and staff, our safety plan worked and we caught this early,” Kirijan said.
