(WBRE/WYOU-TV) The iconic Christmas ballet The Nutcracker — is back in Scranton this week for everyone to see, Eyewitness News Reporter Anja Whitehead gives us a sneak peek.
A decades-old performance continues with the Scranton Civic Ballet Company’s production of the Nutcracker.
“With Christmas, The Nutcracker has magic in it when Clara goes into her dream so that just wraps right into it” Said Emilie Gronski, Lead Spanish.
Julio Laegira, a ballet teacher at Scranton Civic Ballet Company has been doing ballet for the past 25 years all around the world and loves sharing his knowledge with the younger generation.
“I have the opportunity to show to the kids, the new generations, give the tools to be prepared for the very important dances.” for many the magical performance has become a family tradition over the years” said Julio Laegira, Ballet Teacher Scranton Civic Ballet Company.
“I just love Christmas and going to see the Nutcracker is just the epitome of it all” Added Lazecki.
All costumes are handmade and the performers range from children to young adults, making the performance something special.
“It’s always interesting to me that it’s such a young group of children. How they are just so professional up on stage. And they just bring everything to life. It’s very magical. It’s beautiful” Said Lazecki.
With a classic such as the Nutcracker, the performance will really get you in the Christmas spirit.
The performance of the Nutcracker will be at the Scranton Cultural Center on Friday evening at 7:30 and Sunday at 2 p-m.
