MONTOURSVILLE, LYCOMING COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) Memorial day is less than a week away and some local scouts are preparing to remember Pennsylvania patriots.

More than two dozen Boy and Cub Scouts placed American flags in at the grave markers in the ‘Montoursville Cemetery.’

One-by-one more than two-thousand flags were set by the graves.

This annual event has been tradition since the 1960’s.

Sam Kutay with Cub Scout Troop 21 told Eyewitness News “You defiantly feel pretty good after you do it!”

Devin Durant with Boy Scout Troop 21 added “it feels nice to place these down for the Vets… Fellow veterans who have fought and died.”

After all flags were placed American Legion Post 1-04 provided dinner for the scouts and their families. A Memorial Day service at the cemetery is set for 10 am on Monday.
