ASHLEY, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) A well traveled highway that climbs in elevation is known for crashes, congestion and at times closures.
This storm has caused State Route 309 from Wilkes-Barre Township to Mountain Top to be a complete mess. The hill up and down is notorious for crashes and having cars getting stuck trying to make the climb.
Eyewitness News crews found vehicles stopped for awhile last evening.
“It really depends on who’s driving but typically if it comes this quickly 309 is murder,” said Evan Roberts of Mountain Top who takes this route each day.
“Here almost 30 years and this is the first time I can’t get home up the mountain. I don’t know what’s going on there,” said Mike Iorio of Mountain Top.
This snow storm is an early reminder to stock your vehicle with essentials for the winter months. In case you get stuck in a storm like the one we’re having.
That may include non-perishable food, flash light, first aid kit, blankets, if you’re elderly, pack extra medication.
Plus, experts say never leave your gas tank below half.
