(WBRE/WYOU) PennDOT has released the road work schedule for next week. Check your route before you head out on your Monday morning commute and beyond.

Please note that on August 12 and 13 there will be major traffic issues on I-81 and surrounding roads due the three day concert at Montage Mountain and The Northeast Pennsylvania Air Show at the Wilkes-Barre-Scranton International Airport.
Starting on July 7 Exit 273 (White Haven) off ramp will be closed for three weeks. A detour will be in place. Please note at mile maker 268.7 the left will be closed also starting on July 7
Exit 273 (White Haven/Freeland) to Exit 260 (Wilkes Barre/Harrisburg)-Work is being done for the rehabilitation and resurfacing of I-80 westbound from Exit 273 (White Haven/Freeland) to roughly half a mile east of Exit 260 (Wilkes Barre/Harrisburg) on I-81. Traffic is down to a single lane until November. This work will end in November, and then continue in April of 2018 and go until May of 2018. There will be lane closures during the construction period and a detour will be in place using Exit 274/Hickory Run State Park and Route 940 through White Haven.
Exit 182 (Davis Street) and Montage Mountain Rd, Moosic- Throughout the summer, various events will take place near both of these locations, and may cause traffic issues. The events for this week are as follows:
o Baseball games- Monday, July17 and Tuesday, July 18 game starts at 7:05 p.m. Wednesday, July 19 game starts at 12:05 p.m. Thursday and Friday game starts at 7:05 p.m. On Saturday, July 22 at 6:35 p.m. and Sunday, July 23 starts at 1:05 p.m.
Please note: On Thursday, July 13 through Saturday, July 15 Camp Bisco will take place at the Pavilion.
The contractor will continue with multiply lanes closures both northbound and southbound on I-81 from mile marker 205.5 to 223.5 in Susquehanna County.

Exit 170 (Bear Creek/Wilkes Barre) and Exit 178 (Avoca/Wilkes Barre Scranton Airport)-Construction is taking place on I-81 North and South between these exits. PennDOT is replacing four, old 2-lane bridges with new 3-lane bridges. There are two lane shifts taking place northbound. However, there are two lanes open throughout the entirety of that work. The purpose of this project is to widen the bridges in preparation for the widening of I-81 that PennDOT hopes to do in the future. The project should be completed by late fall.
Exit 175 (Pittston) -Traffic patterns changes will include a split roughly 1,000 feet north of this exit. These changes will be in place until October. Crews use the split pattern so they can do work in the middle lane while still maintaining two lanes of traffic.
Exit 175 (Dupont/Pittston) -The Armstrong Drive widening project going from Exit 175 to SR 315 northbound at Oak Street is now complete. The completion of this project allows for three lanes of traffic to come off the exit ramp.
Exits 199 (Scott), 201 (East Benton), and 202 (Fleetville/Tompkinsville)- There are several bridges being replaced in Spring of 2017.
Exit 202 (Fleetville/Tompkinsville) to Exit 199 (Scott)-Work is being done for the replacement of bridge decks, causing single lane traffic in this location until November. A detour will take traffic on to I-81 northbound to Exit 206 (Lenoxville).
Exit 202 (Fleetville/Tompkinsville) to Exit 230 (Great Bend/Susquehanna)- The pavement preservation project began on May 1, causing multiple single lane closures in both the northbound and southbound directions. The lane restrictions will be in place until November, with the exception of being removed over the weekends barring any emergencies.
Exit 30 (Blooming Grove/Porters Lake) to Exit 46 (Milford)- Crews are working on roadway and bridge reconstruction work between these exits. Traffic is currently in a single lane configuration, with westbound traffic traveling within the eastbound travel lanes via cross-overs. Traffic is scheduled to stay in this configuration until November 2017. Three westbound structures and approximately 3.5 miles of westbound interstate roadway are to be completed during this construction season. No permanent lane closures will be allowed during the winter months. The project is scheduled to be completed by October 2019.

SR 6/11 (Lackawanna Trail)- From Clarks Summit to Clinton, traffic will be down to a single lane in both directions due to construction. Crews should be finished with this work in November 2017. The following spring, crews will begin working near Dalton. When that is complete, final pave will take place at night. Starting May 15, 2018, through the middle of June, 2018, crews will be paving form Clarks Summit to Dalton, then Dalton to Wyoming County. Starting on Wednesday, July 5 from Sr 632(Dalton) to Overlook Rd all traffic will be on the east bond lane so work could continue on the west bond lane. This will be continue till Oct 1, 2017.
SR 347 (O’Neill Highway/Blakely Street)- Dunmore Signal Project work is progressing as crews continue to pour concrete sidewalks near the Subway entrance. They are also erecting traffic signal foundations at Rite Aid. In roughly three weeks, crews will start work at the Dunmore Corners section. Traffic will be down to one lane in this area. The entire project is scheduled to be completed by July 2017.
SR 1012, Archbald Borough- At the intersection of Kennedy Drive and County Road, work is taking place to form a four-way intersection with the opposite Borough street. A new traffic signal will be installed at this intersection as well, and Kennedy Drive will be widened to accommodate a center turn lane from Main Street to Monica Drive. An additional left turn lane may be added on Main for left turns on to Kennedy Drive. The project should be completed by December 2017.
SR 3013 – Work is taking place on the bridge located in the 800 block of S. Main Street in Taylor over the PA turnpike. Two 11 ft. lanes will remain open during construction. This should be completed by November.
SR 4019- Construction work on the Edella Road bridge over I-81 in South Abington Township is taking place as crews form the center pier stem. While the bridge is closed, drivers are directed to follow a detour along Venard Road (Route 4030) and South Abington Road (Route 407). The bridge is scheduled to reopen to traffic in August.
SR 4032 (Shady Lane) in South Abington Twp.- There will be work on a section of state highway from approximately 0.09 miles west of SR 11 to approximately 0.17 miles east of SR 307. This project will replace the existing slab on the bridge under the concrete arch associated with the DL&W Railroad with a new slab. MPT during the construction will be a detour. This project is expected to be completed by November.
SR 6011(Harrison Avenue), Scranton – As part of the ongoing project to replace the Harrison Avenue Bridge, the Central Scranton Expressway is a single lane pattern in each direction. This project is expected to be completed in 2018.
SR 315 will closed starting Friday, July 7, 2017 at 6 p.m. to Monday, July 10, 2017 at 6 a.m. from the Walmart and I-81 on ramp. All access to Walmart and I-81 will available through a detour.
The week of July 10, 2017 shifting of traffic to Phase 2 on the Rutter Ave. Bridge will take place. Approximate date for shift is July 13 or 14, 2017. (weather dependent)
As a reminder the detour and maintenance and protection of traffic signing will be set up and in place for the new traffic pattern over and approaching the bridge.
Traffic on Rutter Ave. crossing over the bridge heading west from Wells St. towards East Bennett St. will still be down to one straight lane, with traffic shifted to the left of centerline over the bridge, then shifted back to the right after the bridge. The one left turn lane over the Rutter Ave. bridge to access SR 309 SB (North Cross Valley Expressway) will still be in use, also shifted to the left of centerline over the bridge, then shifted back to the right after the bridge.
Traffic on Rutter Ave. heading east from East Bennett St. towards Wells St. will continue to follow the signed detour to SR 309 SB to Exit #3 (River St.). Traffic will then make a left on River St. and then make another left to get on SR 309 NB. Traffic will then get off SR 309 NB at Exit #4 to Rutter Ave. on the east side of the Rutter Ave. bridge. Temporary concrete barrier is scheduled to be placed Monday July 17, 2017. Phase 2 construction duration will be approximately two to three months.

8th St. in Wyoming- This will be closed until the middle of August. The work being done is the replacement of an old stone wall that is falling apart as a result of the 2006 flood in that area. This wall will be replaced with a new, concrete wall to ensure the structural integrity of the road. There will be a detour in place from 8th St. to Mt. Zion, to Schooly St. and then onto Slocum Ave. before coming back to 8th.
SR 29 between Exit 2 and Exit 3- There is currently a single lane closure in both directions for work on the South Valley Parkway Project. The lane closures are scheduled to last for the next 12 months. Routine blasting will occur throughout this area. There will be rolling roadblocks during blasting. Middle Road was closed and detoured April 3, 2017, and will reopen in November of 2017. Kosciuszko Street will be closed July 10, 2017 and reopened in September of 2017. Prospect Street will be closed in the summer of 2018 and reopen in November 2018.
SR 309- A new traffic pattern began back in April on Rutter Ave. Traffic on Rutter Ave. crossing over the bridge heading west from Wells St. towards East Bennett St. is down to one straight lane. There is one left turn lane over the Rutter Ave. bridge to access SR 309 SB (North Cross Valley Expressway). Traffic on Rutter Ave. heading east from East Bennett St. towards Wells St. follows the signed detour to SR 309 SB to Exit 3 (River St.). Traffic then makes a left on River St. and then another left to get on SR 309 NB. Traffic then gets off SR 309 NB at Exit 4 to Rutter Ave. on the east side of the Rutter Ave. bridge. Phase 1 construction duration will be approximately three months.
SR 415 (The Dallas 5-Leg project)- The Dallas 5-Leg project is a cooperative project between The Back Mountain Council of Governments, local municipalities, and PennDOT. Work includes the realignment of SR 1041 (Upper Demunds Road) and the installation of a new single-lane roundabout at the 5-Leg Intersection in Dallas Borough. Throughout the course of work, periodic detours will be in place and significant delays are anticipated. This project is expected to be completed by June of 2019.
SR 7220- Bridge Replacement of County Bridge #26304 that carries Old Route 11 (Main Street) over Toby Creek in Kingston Township. The proposed bridge will include concrete abutments with spread footings. A one mile detour will be utilized during construction. Other work includes bituminous paving, line painting and guiderail work. This is a local project, not a PennDOT project. This project is expected to be completed by July of 2019.

Pond Eddy – Progress continues on the placement of concrete at the pier. The projected work to set the steel beams from the NY abutment to the pier is mid to late June. Work is on schedule.
SR 2004, Silver Lake Rd to Lake Marcell- The work taking place here consists of edge repairs, pipe replacements, and a bridge deck replacement near Lake Marcell. This project will continue until the fall. The road will be resurfaced in 2018.
There will be traffic issues on Friday, July 14, 2017 on SR 1013 Turnpike Street and SR 171 Main Street, Susquehanna, PA from 6:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. for the Susquehanna Hometown Days.

SR 267- The Route 267 bridge, which spans Middle Branch Wyalusing Creek in Forest Lake Township reopened to traffic June 1, 2017. This bridge was replaced as part of the PennDOT’s Rapid Bridge Replacement Project and allows PennDOT to remove it from the state’s structurally deficient bridge list.
SR 492 (New Milford) – The road will be down to a single lane until October with temporary signals.
SR 858- A bridge replacement project has begun at the intersection of Howard Road and SR 858 in Middletown Township. The two-lane temporary run-around is still in use to lead the public around the construction. This project is expected to be complete by July of 2017.
SR 1018 (Old Lackawanna Trail)- Construction for the bridge spanning Beaver Creek in New Milford Township has begun as part of PennDOT’s Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. Replacement of this bridge will allow PennDOT to remove it from Susquehanna County’s structurally deficient bridge list. Construction is expected to be complete in late August. During this time, drivers will be directed to follow a detour along Main Street (Old Route 11), Church Street (SR 1033), and Steam Hollow Road (SR 1037).
SR 3037 (Rush Twp.)- There is a bridge closure from the intersection of SR 367 to the intersection of SR 267 in Rush Township. The bridge is closed due to pier deficiency. A detour is posted.
The Scott Center Road (Route 4037) bridge, which spans Sherman Creek in Scott Township, Wayne County, reopened to traffic on Wednesday, July 12, 2017. This bridge was replaced as part of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) Rapid Bridge Replacement Project and allows PennDOT to remove it from the state’s structurally deficient bridge list.

SR 191 over Dyberry Creek, Honesdale Borough- The work here consists of the rehabilitation of an existing two span I-beam bridge, new retaining wall, temporary pedestrian bridge, temporary traffic signal, traffic detour, rock embankment, sidewalk and curbs, guiderail, and pavement markings. Work is expected to be complete by October 2017.
SR 562- Narrowsburg Bridge Inc. Mobilization is scheduled to be complete by September of 2018. The proposed work consists of the rehabilitation of a steel deck arch bridge over the Delaware River, along with some other work. The controlled one-lane traffic pattern will continue throughout construction apart from 15 overnight closures needed.
SR 3004- There is a bridge deck replacement project over West Branch of Wallenpaupack Creek (Salem/Sterling Townships) at the intersection of Moon Road, Pond Road, Callapoose Road, and Cemetery Road. The roadway will be completely closed during this time. Work is expected to be complete by September.
SR 3019 over Jones Creek, Lake Township- Construction work here consists of the replacement of a steel I-beam bridge, along with other various projects. This is expected to be complete by November 2017.

SR 1017 (College Ave) Factoryville- This road will be closed until August 9, 2017 due to the replacement of a bridge next to the elementary school. A detour will be in place.
SR 1009 (Avery Station Road) in Lemon Township- The road is closed to all through traffic (open to local traffic only) for a bridge replacement project over Oxbow Creek. Construction will take place between Vago Road and Bob Henry Road. There is 10-mile detour in place for the traveling public. The project is expected to be completed by end of November 2017.
