Remembering Judge Nealon


SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU-TV) Judge William J. Nealon passed away last week.
He was the longest-serving federal district court judge in U.S. history.
 Now some of the thousands of people whose lives he impacted are paying tribute.  The funeral mass is being held this morning in Scranton.
  Eyewitness News Reporter Lauren Hensley is in Scranton for the tribute to Judge Nealon. 
Family, friends, the legal community and beyond attended funeral services for Judge Nealon. Many people who attended say Nealon will be remembered for his commitment to public service and the law.  Before his death,h Judge Nealon was the longest serving federal district court judge in the history of the united states. The courthouse is Scranton is named after him.  Many saying this is a major loss for the community. 
“We are feeling the loss in a very personal way and i think there are so many people in this region who feel the sense of loss. And we just want to express our condolences and sorrow to the Nealon family. “said Senator Bob Casey
Judge Nealon is survived by his wife, five children and dozens of grandchildren and great-grandchildren— many were in attendance  today
