STROUDSBURG, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) – In an update to a story Eyewitness News broke last year, rape charges have been dropped against a former volleyball coach and substitute teacher.
Leighton Hewitt, 44, of East Stroudsburg was in Monroe County Court on Friday afternoon.
The East Stroudsburg High School North girls volleyball coach was accused of sexually assaulting a 19-year-old woman at his apartment.
The most serious charges against him were dropped because the victim didn’t want to pursue the case.
However, Hewitt pleaded guilty to furnishing alcohol to a minor. He was immediately sentenced to one year probation and a $1,000 dollar fine.
