Police Officers Receive Special Honor

JERMYN, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Two police officers in Lackawanna County are being recognized for going above and beyond the call of duty.

One of the Jermyn Borough cops was involved in a case that recently made national headlines.

Officer Chris Brazen investigated the bizarre incident surrounding the death of Joshua Rose from Luzerne County.

Police say Rose may have suffered a drug overdose, but instead of getting him help, at least one of the suspects strangled him with a pair of jumper cables, and then dressed up the body to make him look alive before dumping the evidence in Susquehanna County.

Sergeant Anthony Caljean was honored for stopping a potential rape five years ago.  Police say a woman was attacked during a home invasion, and Sergeant Caljean stunned the suspect with a taser.
