(WBRE/ WYOU)- A community is on edge after two bodies were found in Schuylkill County.
They were discovered inside a home in Butler Township, near Frackville, this afternoon. Police have identified the women as 54-year-old Christine Moran and 97-year-old Josephine Kodis. An autopsy will be performed on Friday.
“It’s quiet. It’s peaceful,” Theresa Lane, lives on the next block said.
That’s how residents living on 5th St. describe the neighborhood. But Thursday morning Butler Township Police and Pennsylvania State Police were at the house after they found two bodies inside.
“Shocked. Blown away,” Steven Quinn, a Frackville resident said.
Pennsylvania State Police say a U.S. Postal Service worker noticed mail piling up at the house. Police went to do a wellness check about 11 a.m. Thursday morning. That’s when the bodies were found.
Police have taped of this house on South Fifth Street as they proceed with their investigation.
“I cannot believe that anything like that would happen in Mr. Moran’s house,” Lane said.
People in the neighborhood tell eyewitness news that an older man used to live in the house but passed away in the fall of 2018. They say they know of his family still going to the house but didn’t notice anything strange.
“God bless them all, whoever they are. So sad. Very very sad. Cannot imagine. It being one of my loved ones,” Quinn said.
This is an ongoing investigation. State police say it is too early to determine the cause of death but do say that, at this time, the public is not in any danger.
