Pocono Services for Families and Children Honored

(WBRE/WYOU-TV)  A local community center got some national recognition.

Pocono Services for Families and Children received the Edward Zigler Innovation Award in San Antonio last week.

Pocono Services operates the Mountain Center near Tobyhanna which is home to many services that focus on the needs of the community.

The award is given to Head Start programs that partner with other agencies to deliver a high service to children and families in the area.

“We know we’ve been doing a good job and to get this national recognition it affirms that everything we’re doing is in the right direction.  We’re serving people, making an impact and we’ve been wanting to achieve that goal.  The whole idea was making an impact in people’s lives,” Said Chris Grape-Garvey, PSFC Community Resources Coordinator

The Mountain Center building used to be an elementary school.

It was empty for several years before P-S-F-C moved in three years ago.

Now the building is bustling with activity.
