SMITHFIELD TOWNSHIP, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) – You’re invited to dig in to special dishes and discounts for an entire month in the Poconos. Dozens of restaurants across the four-county region will participate in a special initiative.
The Gem and Keystone Brewpub at Shawnee Inn is cooking up something special.
Managers have created two menus specifically for Pocono Mountains Restaurant Month, which runs from April 22nd to May 19th.
“I think it’s great for the community. It brings, hopefully, guests here that haven’t been here before and will keep coming back,“ explains Jamie Maher, manager, The Gem and Keystone.
More than thirty eateries throughout Monroe, Carbon, Wayne and Pike counties are involved, and the list keeps growing.
Participating restaurants are all offering incentives to get you to walk through the doors, with special dishes and discounts.
“The purpose of Pocono Restaurant Month is really to just show everybody the different types of cuisines the Poconos has,“ says Kelly Shannon, PR & Social Media Manager, Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau.
The Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau worked with local chambers to develop the idea.
They created a special website highlighting each restaurant, so you can plan in advance.
“We’re just trying to get the word out so people are prepared,“ Shannon adds.
And it’s not just sit-down restaurants participating. Kitchen Chemistry in Stroudsburg will offer special desserts made with fresh fruit.
“It’s a great opportunity for people who might not necessarily come down to my shop to experience what great stuff we have,“ smiles Lisa Diemer, owner, Kitchen Chemistry.
A sweet way to give people ‘a taste of the Poconos’.
