SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) – A 19-year-old marine killed in Vietnam is being remembered in his hometown on the 52nd anniversary of his death.
Jimmy Reddington of Scranton was shot to death as he angrily charged toward the enemy after watching his friend get hit by fire.
Now every year, members of Jimmy’s unit travel to Scranton to remember and honor their friend.
Yesterday, they re-dedicated a plaque in his honor at the Weston Field House in Scranton where Jimmy played sports growing up.
They’ll never forget his loyal nature.
The plaque honoring Jimmy was moved from its original location at a nearby little league field, after the team disbanded.
