Plane heading to Toronto makes emergency landing at AVP


AVOCA, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) – Emergency crews were called to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport on Thursday morning.

A commercial plane with 34 passengers and a crew on board reportedy lost an engine in-flight. The plane, a Porter Airline Turbo Prop, landed safely at the airport in Avoca and all the passengers went in the terminal.

Porter Air is based in Toronto. The plane was traveling from Newark to Toronto when it encountered the problem. The engine will be repaired at the airport.

The passengers are waiting for another aircraft to arrive in Avoca to take them to their final destination.
