(WBRE/WYOU-TV) Eat pizza and fight cancer. That’s the basis of an event going on this week in Scranton.   Pizza by Pappas is holding its annual fundraiser for the pancreatic cancer action network. Today and tomorrow (November 14)  — the business near Courthouse Square — is donating *half* of the money from all its pizza sales to the group. Pancreatic cancer is one of the deadliest forms of cancer. A majority of the people diagnosed die within the first five years. This is the ninth year for the fundraiser.

“We are over $88,000 right now that we’ve raised during the fundraisers and I’m really hoping this year is going to be the push over $100,000” said Bill Sheakoski, Co-Owner, Pizza by Pappas.

“My husband passed away in 2006 and at that time there wasn’t really much known about it in this area,” said Teresa Grabowski, Pancreatic Cancer Action Network

All of the money raised will go towards research, advocacy and helping local people affected by pancreatic cancer.
