HAZLETON, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)- Every Friday on Eyewitness News we will visit an area school where students get up before sunrise and show us their school spirit. Our Pep Rally Friday kicked off this morning in Hazleton.
4:30 am and Hazleton Area High School students arrive at school. With the band’s music blasting from the gym, it can only mean one thing- it’s the Eyewitness News Pep Rally Friday, and the home of the Cougars is rocking.
“We woke up early to be here to show our support and show our love for the school and all the sports teams,” says senior Erika Brooke, student council president.
The spirit squad will cheer on the football team from the bleachers as they take on Abington Heights Friday night.
Cheering from the sideline is the varsity cheerleaders. The band will also take center stage as they’ve been practicing all summer long.
“What I love is having the opportunity to help my fellow musicians achieving what they think they can’t reach,” says senior Eric Martinez.
It’s not just the play on the field that makes the school special, it’s what’s happening inside the classroom.
“I want to be an engineer,” says senior Emma Miller.
Read and white cougar pride, the student body’s enthusiasm is taking off to a whole other level.
