CHESTNUTHILL TOWNSHIP, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) – Eyewitness News has exclusively learned that two Monroe County parents face charges after their six-month-old baby boy died Sunday.
State police say the 23-year-olds admit to using drugs the night before their infant’s death.
According to the coroner, the baby died in the emergency room. An autopsy was performed and the results are pending.
Samantha DeFrancesco and Christian Tuliszewski, both of Saylorsburg, are charged with Endangering The Welfare Of Children. They also face a drug charge.
First responders were called to their home on Long Woods Drive in Chestnuthill Township around 11:30 a.m. Sunday. DeFrancesco allegedly found her baby in the bassinet not breathing.
State police say both parents admit to smoking marijuana the night before, then falling asleep on the couch. They also allegedly admit to using heroin around that time.
Investigators also allegedly found drug paraphernalia around the house, including hypodermic needles in the kitchen drying rack next to infant bottles. Court papers indicate DeFrancesco and Tuliszewski also used meth within the past week.
Investigators say a three-year-old was also in the home.
They are behind bars in Monroe County, unable to post $25,000 dollars bail each. They’re tentatively due back in court later this month.
Neighbors did not want to speak on camera, but say they’ve noticed suspicious activity around the house.
