Paralympic champion inspires future athletes

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A Paralympic champion from Wayne County is back in our area.

Snowboarder Mike Minor took home two medals in South Korea.

The Waymart native was born without his right forearm, and for the past two decades, he has overcome the obstacles to become a gold medalist.

Minor started skiing as a toddler and strapped on a snowboard by the time he was a seven-year-old.

He stopped by Allied Services in Scranton Tuesday night to inspire the next generation of athletes.

“Don’t ever give up, because you never know how close you are to anything,” said Minor.  “That next decision could change everything for you.”

Minor took a few weeks off, but he’s already training for the future.  He plans to compete in Beijing in 2022.
